Five public listings that day. Three worth a look. Two are yard machines, not farm machines. I am not selling any of them. Call the seller yourself. Prices move.
What I saw
| Machine | Ask | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kioti LK3054, loader, 30 hp | $8,900 | Jamestown | Real compact diesel. Loader on it. |
| Yanmar YM1500D 4x4 diesel | $3,400 | Jamestown | 505 hours listed. Small, but diesel 4x4. |
| White 2-70 | $13,000 | Waterford | Bigger farm tractor. Wrong size if you wanted compact. |
| Cub Cadet XT1 + plow | $1,999 | Fairview | Yard tractor. Not a 3-pt farm compact. |
| 2010 Troy-Bilt 42" + snowblower | $850 | Green Twp | Lawn + snow. Skip unless that’s all you need. |

Shortlist of 3
Option 1 · cheap diesel
Yanmar YM1500D 4x4 diesel
$3,400 · Jamestown · 505 hours listed
Old Japanese compact. Small. If it is actually 4x4, 3-pt, and starts cold, this is the value play. 15 hp class. Fine for a few acres, a tiller, a small blade. Not a loader tractor.
Ask: hours real? 3-pt hitch on it? 4x4 engages? Smoke on start? Live PTO or transmission PTO?
Option 2 · the real compact
Kioti LK3054 with loader, 30 hp
$8,900 · Jamestown
This is the one that actually does farm work. ~30 hp, loader, 4x4 class. Daedong diesel. Type I 3-pt on this model from the factory. Money is in the loader and whether the hydraulics leak.
Ask: hours, loader pins/bushings, 3-pt lift, four-wheel drive, cold start, rear tire date codes.
Option 3 · only if you farm
White 2-70
$13,000 · Waterford
70 hp class. Row-crop / field tractor. If the ask was “compact for a place in Waterford,” this is too much iron and too much money. Keep it on the list only if you also have hay or heavier ground work.
Cub Cadet $1,999 and Troy-Bilt $850 are not on this shortlist. They are lawn machines with snow gear.
I’d pick this if it were mine
Look at the Yanmar $3,400 and the Kioti $8,900 the same afternoon. Both are Jamestown. That is one trip.
If the Yanmar is honest 4x4, 3-pt, 505 hours, and it fires cold, buy that and keep $5,000. If it is tired, smoky, or missing a hitch, walk and write a check for the Kioti — that is the actual compact with a loader.
Do not mail a deposit. See it run. Confirm hours, 3-pt, 4x4, cold start before cash.
Before you hand over cash
- Start it cold. Wait for smoke to clear.
- Count hours against wear. A painted-over tach is a walk-away.
- Put it in 4x4. Lift the 3-pt. Cycle the loader if it has one.
- Check for wet rear ends, wet loader joints, dry-rotted tires.
- Title / bill of sale in the seller’s name. No stories.
If private-party is junk: dealers
These are the local shops. Call them. I don’t get a cut.

Ventrac / Steiner / Belarus. Not Kubota. Good if you want compact articulated or ag iron and a real shop.

Bottom line
Same-day Jamestown run: Yanmar $3,400 then Kioti $8,900. Skip the Cub Cadet and Troy-Bilt unless you only need a driveway plow. White 2-70 is a different job. Dealers are the backup if both private ads are gone by Saturday.
Hunt date: 30 Aug 2026. Sample for Chief Hunt, $50. Paid to Dennis Myers. Not a dealer listing. Not an offer to sell these machines.
